The lectures will be held in English.

• Introduction- Brief synopsis of the Swedish educational model in a historical context
• ECEC Policies and Programs in Sweden
• Overview of the curriculum for Swedish compulsory school system, pre-school class/leisure-time center
• Summary of Early Childhood Programs i.e Pedagogical Frameworks
• Parental Involvement
• Multicultural Early Childhood Settings
• Discussion: Education Policy Analysis.  Fundamental differences between Hungarian and Swedish ECEC.

• Introduction - culture. What the term ´culture signifies: how it is interpreted and defined
• Various perspectives of the notion of culture and cultural differences
• An overview of significant terminology associated with intercultural and interpersonal communication.  Communicative patterns across cultures. (Misunderstanding and understanding in intercultural communication, differences in values and views.)
• Patterns of communication conditioned by Swedish culture, comparative perspective
• Interpersonal communication in Sweden
• Brief overview of organisational communication in Sweden
• Gudykunst’s Anxiety/Uncertainty Management (AUM) theory, Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions, Fons Trompenarrs, Edward T Hall
• Swedish and Hungarian Cultural Dimensions
• Discuss: Stereotypes and Cultural Identities in Sweden and Hungary
• Card Game Exercise
